about

"Heavy Chains are intent on exposing the ugly and confrontational, swimming in the channel between dissonant post-punk and angular early-‘90s hardcore. ... This would be a great band to see live."
-- foxy digitalis

"Heavy Chains will put dents in your dome but not before sneaking some serious hooks into the mix shifting misanthropic blasts into catchy grungey scum pop with effected-to-infinity vocals that sound utterly inhuman.”
-- Permanent Records Chicago

“Heavy Chains is a sludge rock monstrosity that burrows deep into your brain with its punishing, cyclical riffs. ... owing their vicious, repetitive style to the Stooges and Sweden's Brainbombs...”
-- Exclaim! Magazine

"Punishing and, more importantly, essential."
-- The Georgia Straight

HEAVY CHAINS, featuring members of unwound anathemists NÜ SENSAE, tightly disjointed misanthropes WHITE LUNG, and the viciously frenetic MUTATORS, are not only scandalous in it's nepotism, but greatly deserving of attention in documenting the destructive diaspora. This is a sound steeped in a collective urge to express the anxiety of existing in an environ that could care less. As a part of the burgeoning dirge of Cascadia, this is a bold and stark testament that the Pacific Northwest is never going to be the same, all over once again.

Each track feeds off and turns on the others, punishing the listener in intense feral anxiety, punctuated deftly at times with found sound for relief. And, with HEAVY CHAINS guitarist Brody McKnight recently joining bass/vocalist Andrea Lukic in Nü Sensae, rest assured this is also an early sneak peek into that new tweak.

Limited to 500 copies. Full colour jacket. This is BDY012.
